Army Sgt Sean M. Durkin was from Aurora Colorado.  He graduated from Eaglecrest High School in Aurora and later graduated from the Denver Auto and diesel School.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, Fort Carson, Colorado.  ​

He received injuries at Forward Operating Base Wilson, Afghanistan on March 27th when his vehicle was attacked by an IED. He succumbed to his injuries and died on April 9th 2010 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC.
